Sometime In 2021 I was really inspired by the line experimentation of an artist called Serif Karasu. Lots of lost edges, reversals of value, patterns that popped out of their bounding shapes, cross-hatching to capture motion as well as form.
I was also having a lot of fun pushing the limits of what lineweight can do for enhancing perspective and depth in a style that's unavoidably an abstraction to a flat plane.
(check out my youtube vid on lineweight if that interests you https://youtu.be/2cUhtzuMDlM )
Also a note that might interest some of you; I find that experimentation like this is only possible for me in digital; I simply can;t achieve the same results on paper anymore. I suspect this is very much an 'hours-spent' mileage thing, but it's an interesting one nonetheless.
