This sort of community building project is exactly what I love about artists and their passions, so I can wholeheartedly recommend taking part in collaborations like this or starting your own.
really enjoyed these sketches, but I wanted to explore more shapes faster, so I started sketching with chunky values
I could explore much faster here, and consider composition much more easily. The top right shape ended up winning, but I changed the angle completely to allow a better cut-away view.
First draft of the final composition! Everything was big shapes and I just erased and modified each section until it was polished enough. The cutaway detailed came long after establishing the body and legs
Since I wanted everything outside to be tinted blue for the extreme temperature contrast, I had to find a way to distinguish artificial from natural. To that end I used heavy colour dynamics when painting the environment.
Details, polish, and a few pose changes so that it was clearer which way the vehicle was pointing.
